Well the wind is blowing 20 knots. The offshore seas are running 2-4 feet and we are opting for a day off. In the Keys we have an expression we use when we need to touch civilization for a day. When the need for a Wal-Mart, Best Buy, or Cracker Barrel becomes so great we must answer the yearning we quite literally ”Get off the rock”.

Getting off the rock, for us fresh water conchs, means making the hundred or so mike trip on the overseas highway. The trip is an absolute delight; dozens of bridges transiting beautiful emerald green/blue water, wide open vistas dotted with magnificent mangrove islands, and who can forget the gold/green coral patch reefs that inhabit the near shore shallows. For us it really puts things in perspective. We truly are blessed to live in such a beautiful place. More importantly we are blessed to share it with so many really incredible people like yourselves.

Too all the people who have shared our life in Key West we extend to you a sincere “Thank You” . To all of you who we have yet to meet we look forward to sharing our secret patch reefs, our hidden mangrove eco treasures, and most of all our very own eco starship the ”Namaste”.

Well were off to enjoy our day “Off the rock” and add another chapter to the book of Key West stories

Cheers,

Jeff and Trish
